Watching Dakar in Morocco: plan a spectator day

A few good questions are worth more than a GPS pin shared without context. This guide helps you plan a visit; it does not designate access to the course that has not been approved for spectators.

Start with an identified public location

Check that your chosen spot appears in instructions intended for spectators. A host town, a bivouac and a track visible online are not interchangeable. If no public area is clearly identified, wait for clarification rather than taking a track towards the race.

Plan the return before setting off

Allow for the outward journey, waiting time and getting back. Save essential information offline. If travelling in a group, agree on a meeting point outside the course and a way to regroup when reception is poor.

Prepare for a day outside

Bring water, sun protection, an extra layer and footwear suitable for standing for some time. With children, choose an authorised location where you can stay back from passing vehicles and leave easily.

On-site instructions take priority

Follow marshals and local authorities. Do not cross a special to find a better camera angle, park on an intervention route or approach a stopped vehicle without instructions. A good viewing position is one that remains authorised.

Details still to confirm for 2027

The sources we checked do not let us publish public-area coordinates, local passing times or bivouac access rules here. Confirm all three before booking any excursion marketed as “Dakar access”.
